Force Free
All of our training programs are science backed! Current research shows that positive dog training methods have been proven to provide the greatest long-term benefits for both the dog and owner.
Can you guess what has been proven NOT TO WORK?! Aversive, fear driven methods such as shock collars (e-collars) and choke collars, physical corrections (hitting & leash popping), excessive yelling & punishment.
These negative reinforcement techniques are never used in Wolfman’s Canines training. Instead, we use tonal change, redirection, lures and rewards (FOOD, FUN & FREEDOM) to accomplish the training goals we set out to achieve with your dog.

Socialization
What is missing from almost ALL dog training programs? Socialization as a focus! We understand dogs are pack animals, yet many dogs miss the opportunity to socialize and develop these crucial “doggie social skills.”
With each training program, we will slowly introduce your dog to our own ‘social ambassadors.’ This trainer led, structured socialization is not only a very fun (& entertaining!) form of enrichment for each dog; these play breaks allow them to 'just be a dog' in between more concentrated periods necessary for behavior modification.

Consistency Counts
If you want to be successful at anything in life, it takes consistent practice, right? Our lead canine behaviorist works with your dog on learning new commands daily! This means that at Wolfman’s Canines, your dog will be learning new commands and behaviors more than twice as much as other training programs, AND with the same person every time! Some dogs can only take so much new training before they lose interest and each dog learns at a different pace. This is why it is so important to emphasize the frequency of training. Reps count!

Exercise & Adventure!
A tired dog is a well-behaved dog! Give your dog regular exercise, and you'll get a best friend that is more attentive and able to learn new things when it's time for training.
All dogs - especially working dog breeds - need to get outside and move! That is why our board & train programs are structured to include exercise, socialization, and play breaks. We will take your dog on outings to the local parks and trails, as well as Home Depot or local parks. These trips have the added benefit of testing your dog in different environments and with different stimuli.

Owner Education
Training guides? At-Home Exercises? Yes, our training programs require a bit more out of the owner, but it's all to make sure you and your dog continue to progress for years to come! We set you up with several ongoing owner resources from the Dunbar Academy (details on our CLIENT FORMS page!) and make sure you are keeping up to speed with all the commands and behaviors that your dog is learning as they go through the program.

Once we've learned about your dog and your training goals, our professional dog trainer will meet with you and your dog for an in-person (and in-canine!) evaluation.
During this time we will get to assess your dog's personality, how you communicate with your dog, your dog's exercise outlets and social skills, and determine the best course of action. We'll plan out a custom dog training package, and of course let you know about the cost.

If you decide to move forward, you'll get a care plan and training guide that will help you better navigate the training process. While we will consult with you on what your dog's training should look like, we want to listen to you and find the best training solution that will work for your dog and your lifestyle. After you decide on a package, we'll send over an invoice as well as new client forms and a scheduling link!

Along with your new client forms, we'll provide you with a list of items to bring along for your dog's training, regardless if you are starting with 1-on-1 sessions or a board and train. If a board and train was included as part of your package, you'll drop off your dog at the Wolfman’s dog-farm! Upon drop-off, we will show you where your dog will sleep, eat, train and play! We are located just 30 minutes north of Columbus in Galena, Ohio.

We recommend you work with your dog for 15-30 minutes daily after they come home from their board and train program and in between your 1-on-1 sessions. Before your dog comes home, you should be reading up on the free courses and resources that we provide for you through the Dunbar Academy.

We realize when you are away from your pup that knowing how and what they are doing is extremely valuable (and helpful when you miss them!) and so we have a reliable and structured way of providing regular updates. It's good to know what to expect!
Tuesdays (text updates) - this will include a simple message on your dog's well-being along with any answers to questions you may have had previously
Saturdays (report cards) - you can expect a longer report card sent via email that will include what was worked on in training through the week, what your dog needs to still improve on along with correlating at-home exercises.
Pictures & videos are made readily available via an individualized Google photos album as well as on social media.
General questions on policies, payment arrangements or paperwork will be answered by admin Monday-Saturday: 9am-5pm

We do not, we are ‘positive reinforcement dog trainers’ who use tonal change and redirection for unwanted behaviors along with treats and verbal praise for desired behaviors. See the LIMA (least intrusive minimally aversive) guidelines we follow as members of the APDT

As a small family business, we treat every dog like they are our own. You'll have the opportunity to tour our personal property, aka 'The Dog Farm' and see where your dog will be trained and where they will sleep. We'll give you a training guide for your specific program outlining what each week and each day will look like. In addition, we will give you 2x official updates per week with frequent pictures and videos shared via social media and a Google photos folder, in addition to answering any questions about your dog's progress that you may have.

Informed consent for media (prior to evaluation)

Waiver of non-improvement
Wolfman’s Canines company policies
You'll also need to go through an official, in-person evaluation. This comes with a $50 fee and allows us to formulate the best package for you and your dog.
To be clear, just the liability waiver & informed consent forms along with a $50 payment is required prior to the evaluation. We will ask for the other forms (as well as proof of vaccination) after you have selected a custom training care package.

Yes we do! While we have more experience in psychiatric service dog training as opposed to occupational, we will design an individualized care plan for any and all qualifying clients in need of a service dog!
Where We Train…. BUCKEYE COUNTRY!
Our 7-ACRE “DOG FARM” is located in GALENA, OHIO (just 10 minutes from Polaris shopping center in Delaware county!) The Wolfman’s compound includes a 2,000sqft CLIMATE CONTROLLED FACILITY as well as a 10,000sqft fenced in PRIVATE DOG PARK. In addition to having a fenced in outdoor space where dogs can safely play and be around other dogs, we have plenty of open spaces and wooded trails on-site where dogs can get all the exercise they need! We also offer at-home sessions as well as travel off-site to parks and public spaces so your dog can be challenged in a variety of different environments.
